Update from Jasmin Guest, Assistant Dean of 91Ö±²¥, Residence Life
What happens when your live-in mentor is also a working scientist? For Trinity students Candice Wu and Ethan Lin, it meant landing hands-on experience in a real research lab.
Jann Gamboa, Trinity’s Academic Don for Life Sciences and Academic Writing for Science, is a PhD student at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, where he studies the gut microbiome using cutting-edge microfluidics technology. He’s welcomed Candice and Ethan into that lab — pictured below — giving them the kind of research experience most undergrads only dream about.
That’s what Trinity’s Academic Dons make possible: living in residence, they offer everything from study support to career mentorship to real-world opportunities. With a background spanning mathematics, biochemistry, microbiology, and pharmacology, Jann is a one-stop resource for science students — and when he’s not in the lab, you’ll find him hiking or reading Filipino novels.
